Imported motor vehicles into the USA are subject to U.S. safety standards, bumper standards and emission standards. Most European cars do not conform to these standards and you will need to make arrangements so your car can be modified for compliance.

Certain vehicles are excluded from the emission requirements – these include:

• Older vehicles (e.g. light-duty gasoline-fueled car or truck built before Jan 1st 1968)
• Racing vehicles
• Unregulated fuel vehicles
• Foreign made vehicles (new or used) are subject to U.S. Duty rates as follows:
• Cars 2.5%
• Trucks 25%
• Motor bikes 3% or 3.4%
